This was inspired by a weekly song prompt: Your lyrics are supposed to reference two spices in your cabinet and maybe have a fun Latin groove.

I thought about how long it's been since I started with the music/accompaniment and then wrote the lyrics to that instead of the other way around. So I built a little groove in Logic Pro using their percussion loops and MIDI mallet percussion and yes some piano. (The montuños in the piano, Latin guitar, vibraphone, and marimba are my melodies performed on midi instruments though they are.)

This ended up being tremendously good fun. The lyrics are in no way profound, but given they began life improvised over the groove, they hang together pretty well. I literally created and recorded this song today.

If you want to groove along with it in A minor at home, go for it! I didn't include chords with the lyrics, because it began as a piano montuño.

(From the montuño entry at Wikipedia, "Finally, the term montuno is also used for a piano guajeo,[1] the ostinato figure accompanying the montuno section, when it describes a repeated syncopated piano vamp, often with chromatic root movement.[2].")
